The impacts of divorce
Each family member’s experience of the divorce or separation process can be different. For the individual initiating the divorce, there may be a mix of relief and sadness, coupled with the stress of making significant life changes. The partner receiving the news might face feelings of shock, betrayal, and a tremendous sense of loss.
If there are children in the family, they may grapple with confusion, guilt, and the overwhelming adjustments to a new family structure. Sometimes conflict can be so intense that children in the family can get lost in the divorce process.
Mediation can make a difference in reducing the impact of divorce
Divorce and separation are complex, and both partners have to untangle their shared lives, address financial concerns, develop coparenting systems, and potentially restructure critical relationships with extended family and friends. Sometimes, partners can’t hash out their differences effectively without extra support, and the negotiations can break down due to harsh feelings and uncooperative behavior.
A PCCRC mediator can help reduce the tensions in divorce and child custody negotiations by operating as a neutral third party that supports a fair outcome. As your mediator, it is my job to help you come to an agreement that focuses on your child’s well-being first and foremost. I will aim for a balanced result that keeps your child safe and fulfills as many needs and wants as possible for both parents at the same time.

Private Child Custody Recommending Counseling (Private CCRC)
Private child custody mediation is a confidential and voluntary process where separated or divorced parents work with a neutral mediator to develop custody agreements and visitation disputes outside of court. The mediator facilitates discussions, helping parents communicate more effectively and negotiate mutually agreeable parenting plans that focus on the best interests of the child.
This process allows parents to maintain control over decisions regarding their children's upbringing, reduces conflict, and often results in more amicable and customized arrangements. By fostering cooperation and reducing the adversarial nature of custody disputes, private mediation aims to create a more stable and supportive environment for the child.
What can CCRC help with?
Mediation to broker an agreement between parents
High-conflict divorce
Instances of abuse, addiction, or infidelity
Inability to come to an agreement between partners
Desire to avoid a lengthy court case
Complicated child custody needs
3111 Child Custody Evaluations
The 3111 child custody process, named after Section 3111 of the California Family Code, involves a court-appointed mediator conducting a thorough evaluation to assist in determining the best interests of the child in custody disputes. This process includes interviews with parents, children, and sometimes other relevant parties, as well as home visits and reviews of pertinent documents and records.
As your mediator, I will assess the child’s needs, each parent's ability to meet those needs, and the overall family dynamics. Based on this comprehensive evaluation, I provide a detailed report with findings and recommendations for the court. The goal is to provide an informed, unbiased perspective to help the court make a custody decision that supports the child's well-being and stability.
What’s the benefit of a 3111 child custody evaluation?
Fulfilling court requirements in child custody disputes
Creating a child custody agreement that ensures your children receive the best care possible.

Based on what is required from the court, I will develop and help you or your client enact a plan together to make needed progress. This progress will be toward understanding, acceptance, and action.

The length of the mediation process will depend on a few things. If you and your coparent work toward an agreement, the process will be faster. If you cannot come to a final agreement and must go forward with a judge’s decision in a court case, this will also extend the duration of the process.

PCCRC mediation is voluntary and takes place between two parents who are hoping to come to an agreement without having to go through a long court case and have a judge decide for them. A mediator helps both parties and keeps the well-being of the child as the highest priority.
A 3111 custody evaluation is performed by a mediator, but it is ordered by the court. It is a thorough review of options for the child, to figure out a custody arrangement that will be best for the child regardless of the wishes of the parents.
